Ridley Scott To Produce 3001 Space Odyssey Sequel Miniseries

Arthur C. Clarke's novel "3001: The Final Odyssey" is to be adapted for miamigaspe.ecrituresnumeriques.ca TV, with "Alien" director Ridley Scott down to serve as executive producer on upcoming sci-fi miniseries.

"3001", which is the fourth novel in Clarke's "Space Odyssey" series was first published in 1997. There aren't many details yet on the plot of the miniseries itself, but the novel follows astronaut Frank Poole, who was killed by the HAL-9000 computer in "2001: A Space Odyssey", revived a thousand years later and exploring a strange new Earth.

The novel also includes space elevators and genetically-engineered dinosaur servants. Fingers crossed these make it into the miniseries, which has been commissioned by Syfy and is expected to air in 2015, .

"The Good Wife" producer David W. Zucker is also down as an executive producer, while screenwriter Stuart Beattie is tasked with adapting Clarke's novel for the small screen. Meanwhile Ridley Scott is also producing "Halo: Nightfall," a feature film based on the gaming franchise .

The estates of Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick -- who directed the iconic 1968 film "2001: A Space Odyssey" -- are reported to be offering "full support" for the project.
