TOP SPIN AT THE TEST: England - Pakistan First Test

At 38 years and six days old, Jimmy Anderson became the oldest player to bowl the first ball of a Test in England since 's Richard Hadlee (39 years and two days) at Edgbaston in July 1990.
The Lancashire veteran is older than bowlers Shaheen Afridi (20y & 121d) and Naseem Shah (17y & 172d) combined.
Shah became the second youngest player to feature in a Test at Old Trafford — after batting great Sachin Tendulkar (17y & 107d) in August 1990.

  This is just the fourth time, and the first since 1906, that England have played three Tests in a row at the same ground. 
The previous occasions were: v Australia at Melbourne (1877-79), v Australia at Sydney (1887-88) and v South Africa at Johannesburg (1906).
  Pakistan have failed to post an opening stand of more than 50 in 34 straight innings away to England. 
The last time they put on a half-century first-wicket stand was at the Oval in August 1996, when Aamer Sohail and Saeed Anwar racked up 106 in a winning cause.
