Talking to the news channel, the veteran leader said that some people did not want Atalji as a prime minister after the Rath Yatra.
"He had objected in 1995 that he should be contacted before the announcement of his name as the prime minister. I told him that I am the party's president and I also have some rights," added Advani.
Speaking on his statement about Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Advani said: "The party was not in favour of the statement regarding Jinnah. Atalji had spoken in my favour. People did not even read my full statement."
On the controversial 2002 Gujarat riots, Advani said: "Atalji had told me after the 2002 riots that Modi should resign. Atalji had also told me that he would not tell this and I should go ahead on this."
Advani praised the Modi government for its achievements in the last six months.
"Everything is going on well with the government. The only difference is that today our party is in full majority in the Lok Sabha," he added.
Suggesting that age should not be a criterion for party's work, the BJP leader said: "Today Atalji is not well. I am fine and still working. We had very good understanding. We ran the party very well. The party is doing very well even today. Youths should come forward, but age should not a factor. Experience comes through age."
