He has said he needs to get back to basics to regain his form, but can he do that in a Test series? It's not unknown for a captain to drop himself - Mike Denness did it in 1974, albeit on tour - and there are no easy answers to Cook's predicament.<br>One thing is certain - Tests are going to come thick and fast.<br> Making the call: Mike Denness dropped himself from the England team when he was not performing<br> <br> <br> Dilemma: Alastair Cook is out of form and could be tempted to drop himself<br> <br> <br>GET OFF THE FIELD!<br><br><br><br>I agree with our own Sports Agenda about the amount of people milling around on the outfield prior to a day's play. Of course broadcasters have a job to do but once you have done that job get off the playing area and allow the players to get on with their business.<br>I speak on this subject with some authority because I'm one of the ones who mill about! The top half-inch of the pitch is rock hard but underneath for an unknown reason the sub-soil has turned to dust. But would they have been able to do so on this pitch? Maybe if they had been bowling against England's current batsmen! There's been a flurry of wickets every afternoon. There needs to be a culinary inquiry. Send for Heston Bloomingeck… <br><br> Tricky customer: Ishant Sharma can still prove to be a threat with the ball despite losing some pace<br> <br> <br>IT'S NO FEVER PITCH <br><br>India look to have a good set of lads.<br><br>Some superstars have been put out to grass. There's no Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Sehwag, Zaheer etc And there's no strutting around or flagging the ball through to the boundary. England were frankly shocking.<br><br>It exasperates me when batsmen come in and start looking and prodding at the pitch as if it has got demons in it. It's the same pitch! It hasn't changed!
